How much a contractor website costs in 2026

Three ways to pay. Build it yourself on a site builder, billed yearly: $17 to $159 a month Wix, 2026 or $19 to $99 a month Squarespace, 2026. Pay a company to build and run it: $199 to $299 a month, or $159 to $239 paid yearly Topline Pro, 2026. Or pay an agency once: $5,750 to $14,390, plus $199 a month hosting Built-Right Digital, 2026.

What is often not in the price

Questions to ask before you pay

  • Is the domain registered in my name, and who pays the renewal?
  • What is the total for the first two years, with setup, the domain and every add-on?
  • Is there a minimum term or a payment plan I have to finish?
  • What counts as an update, and how long does one take?
  • If I leave, do I get the files, and will the site work anywhere else?
  • Who answers a form or a missed call at 9 at night?
  • Is my Google Business Profile part of the price?

Paying once or paying monthly

Paying once buys the build. Hosting, the domain, fixes and changes come on top, every year, and are often not priced until you ask. You also need someone to make the changes.

Paying monthly spreads the cost and usually covers the upkeep. You pay for as long as you use it, and what you keep when you stop depends on the company. 180 Sites sits in between: a 24-month payment plan, after which they say the site is yours.

The table's last column shows the pattern. Over two years, a one-time agency build with its hosting costs more than any monthly service here. A builder costs far less in money and far more in your own time.

Where Arcos fits

Arcos is a monthly service. The Foundation is $297 a month, or $197 without review requests. No setup fee, no minimum term. It covers a site written for your trade, hosting, changes, your Google Business Profile, an AI text reply to every web inquiry, and missed-call text-back.

If you cancel, you keep the site: the files, your data and a written handover within 14 days. The domain stays in your name. It is not the cheapest option: if you have the time, a builder costs less. Everything the $297 includes.

Questions

How much does it cost to maintain a small business website?

On a site builder the plan is the upkeep, plus your own time: $19 to $99 a month on Squarespace, billed yearly (Squarespace, 2026). Monthly services usually include hosting and changes in the fee. After a one-time build, get the yearly price of hosting and changes in writing before you sign.

Is a website subscription better than paying once?

Not by default. Paying once costs more up front and leaves hosting and changes to be paid separately. A subscription costs less to start and covers upkeep, but runs for as long as you use it. Compare the total over two years, and what you keep if you stop.

Do I own my website if I pay monthly?

It depends on the company, so get it in writing. 180 Sites says you own your website. Footbridge Media hands over the site files when you cancel, but its forms, CMS and hosting stop working. Rebolt says you own your content and images, but the site is not designed as a one-click export.

Can I build a contractor website myself?

Yes. Wix and Squarespace let you start from a template and publish on your own domain. The cost is your time: writing every page, adding photos, keeping hours and services current, and answering the leads it brings in.

What does Arcos charge for a website?

$297 a month for the Foundation, or $197 without review requests. The website, hosting and changes are part of it. No setup fee, and you can cancel any month. The pricing page lists what is included.
